September 22, 2004 Meeting Minutes The Hilltop Conservancy held it’s first educational hike on September 19th. Phoebe Epstein pointed out birds and the types of birds the Hilltop attracts. Twenty-one people attended the hike. The group split up at one point as some hiked through the wetland area and others took another route. All in all the hike was a success. After reviewing the first hike the group discussed idea’s for future hikes. Future hikes should include:
Ken Bogert has volunteered to be the liaison between N.Caldwell and the N.Caldwell planning board in regards to available access. Ken told the group he met with the board and they had a few questions about the proposed trail system and access points that the Hilltop may need. Ken got copies of the development maps and suggested to superimpose the trail system on these maps. The trail committee will meet separately to accomplish this. After all questions have been answered and trail systems mapped out, Ken will propose the new map to the board. This way the conservancy is being proactive and we are working jointly with the planning board. It was also discussed that we should have a coordinated approach with all the towns regarding the trail systems and access points. Beverly Crifasi talked about historic preservation of the Hilltop. She suggested that working with local historical societies could be a way to obtain money for historical projects for the conservancy. Beverly knows of an individual who would like to do a photo history for the Hilltop. Meeting adjourned at 9:00pm. Minutes prepared by Secretary: Brian Glennon |
