Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm.

Old business

The review of the logo samples is being postponed until the October meeting.

New business

The meeting opened by having some members voice there concerns over the “all members” e-mail list. Some members that have joined the list have not been getting e-mails. We will have Dennis backtrack to make sure the problem is not on our end and what needs to be done to fix the problem.

Next the group discussed what materials would be needed for an event booth.

    Materials considered were:
  • aerial photographs of the Hilltop
  • storyboard timeline of Hilltop
  • inventory of flora/fauna, foreign invasive species
  • bird photographs
  • historical memorabilia

The event booth is going to be an agenda item at the next meeting to see what kind of information has been gathered. The group can make a better decision of content for the booth after seeing what is available.

Fall events was the next topic. It was suggested to host a night hike on the Hilltop. The hike would probably take place during a full moon in November. A date will be picked at the next meeting.

A family leaf collection day has been set for October 23rd at 2:00. Another new way of attracting people to the reservation. The local media will be informed to promote the day. The meeting area will be the North Caldwell access off of Courter Lane.

Next topic of discussion was a review of the accomplishments made by the conservancy in 2005 year to date. It has been a busy year so far.

    Accomplishments include:
  • Major Debris Cleanup
  • Continuous Trail Layout, Building and Maintenance
  • Initial Cooperative Project Planned(Meadow Restoration)
  • Filed 501c3 Application for Non-profit

    Some future objectives include:
  • Solidify Stewardship of Park
  • Habitat Restoration
  • Access Points
  • Continued Trail marking and blazing
  • Continued Cleanup
  • Hilltop Promotion
  • More Educational Involvement (local school trips)
  • Secure Funding for Future Projects

The last item discussed was the most recent trail blazed in the reservation. The trail is on the North Caldwell side and starts north of the two towers and head south along the south face of the Hilltop ending on Courter Lane where it turns up the hill. Enjoy! Meeting adjourned at 9:00pm.
