Star Ledger June 2004
Hilltop Reservation Makeover Surgery complete and successful Many thanks to the Essex County Parks Department for removing the last of many unsightly tumors (otherwise know as trash and debris) from the Hilltop Reservation. A tour over the weekend revealed a very beautiful and peaceful wilderness preserve un-marred by years of accumulated junk. Earlier in the spring, the Hilltop Conservancy conducted an all-volunteer spring cleaning that gathered up the existing trash for later pick up by trucks. It’s too early to declare complete success at keeping the Hilltop pristine however there is hope that attitudes about litter are changing as no new litter was sighted! If you haven’t been to this newly designated and freshly scrubbed oasis, make plans to treat yourself to an hour of exploring this outdoor gem. The Hilltop Conservancy is a non-profit volunteer organization working to preserve the Hilltop Reservation and develop low impact recreation opportunities on these lands.
