New Hilltop Conservancy Officers Gail Moxley, Secretary, Jefferson Tilley, Vice President of Projects
Gail has been a Verona resident for over 27 years and an avid walker for most of them. She discovered the Hilltop Reservation just three years ago and from the very first trip, was hooked on this 'hidden gem.' She has hiked the trails every weekend since. Gail is a vice president at Bollinger Inc. and finds that the beauty and serenity of the Hilltop gives her a nice balance to the work week. She hopes to help the Conservancy maintain Hilltop so that others can appreciate and enjoy this local oasis.
Jeff has been a resident of North Caldwell since 1972 and is a member of the Essex County Camera and Essex County Nature Photographers clubs. He is a life member of the North Caldwell Fire Department after having served in an active role for 21 years. He holds a BS in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College, and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Caltech. He worked for Hoffmann-La Roche for 39 years, the last 12 as Senior Research Director of Medicinal Chemistry retiring at the end of 2010. He is active in the Rotary Club of Newark, is a Volunteer Mentor and Instructor for Science 2 Students in East Hanover, an American Chemical Society Career Councilor, Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Fairleigh Dickinson University Metropolitan Campus and a Member of the Faculty of 1000.
Geordie Smith and Theresa Trapp will remain as Vice President and Treasurer respectively.
The Conservancy still needs a new President.
This is a great opportunity to continue the mission of stewardship of The Hilltop Reservation. There is much work still to be done to continue restoration efforts, and to use this natural resource to educate ourselves and others about the importance of wild places and the part they play in keeping our environment balanced and healthy. As an Officer of the Hilltop Conservancy, you can continue to move these efforts forward. Please email or call me if you are interested in serving. I'll provide you with an outline of duties.
I am honored to have served as your President this past five years. I've worked with so many of you on Hilltop projects. We've done a lot, and come a long way. This has been a good journey. Thank you!
