Annual Letter and Appeal for Membership Dues

Happy New Year Hilltoppers!  We hope 2019 brings you all that you wish for and more!

Friends and volunteers of the Hilltop Conservancy accomplished much in 2018:

  • Launched a new website, blast email system, and Facebook page
  • Implemented some major trail improvements and repairs,
  • Continued to eradicate high-priority invasives, and
  • Kicked off a new project to regenerate the forest at Prisoner’s Pond.  See our website for details: https://www.hilltopconservancy.org/about/improvements/.

This year, we will continue to crack down on invasive species, and we’re preparing to plant the first installment of native trees at Prisoner’s Pond.  We also plan to begin a much-needed upgrade of the Reservation’s western route which begins by the new dog park in North Caldwell.

How do we fund these efforts?

We’ll be frank:  we rely on membership dues and contributions from local residents like you, as well as service groups and individual volunteers who provide sweat equity – all of which enable the Conservancy to purchase supplies and services, and to conduct events and projects in the Reservation.

As an example, your membership dues and contributions will allow us to engage a contractor to help with heavy brush-clearing and tree-pit digging work at the pond reforestation site.  This will significantly accelerate the project’s timeline.  Without your funds to assist us we can only rely on manual labor, significantly slowing our pace and limiting progress.

A lot has been accomplished and there’s much more to do.  Can we count on your help?

We know you enjoy the Hilltop just as much as we do.  However, in 2018 we saw a significant drop in dues payments.  We were able to make ends meet only because a handful of individuals made additional donations.  Please help us avoid a funding scramble this year by renewing your membership dues.  Any additional donations you can manage are most welcome!

As in years past, amounts for 2019 dues are as follows:

— Single membership:  $20

— Family membership:  $35

Best wishes in 2019!
